Taipei, Nov. 9, 2011 (CENS)--Fair Friend Group, Taiwan's largest machine-tool conglomerate, has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Delcam of Britain, the world's largest firm focusing on CAD/CAM (computer aided design/manufacturing) development, calling for cooperation and exchange of five-axis machining technologies as well as marketing strategy.

The alliance will enable Fair Friend to enhance functionality of its CNC machine tools by adopting Delcam's PowerMILL systems, which will in turn enable users to access hardware and software technological support from both suppliers.

By merger and acquisition, Fair Friend has established 13 brands and 55 subsidiaries worldwide, and over the past several years has acquired many manufacturing technologies through merging with machine-tool firms in Japan, Europe and the U.S.

Headquartered in Birmingham, Delcam has 300-odd sales and services points in over 80 nations and 35,000 customers worldwide. Providing complete machining applications with the development of CAD/CAM systems, Delcam has products for lathes, milling machines, lathe/mill multi-stack machines, molds, wire-cut machines, high-speed milling machines and five-axis machining.

In 1992, Delcam established a joint-venture company in Taiwan to offer software marketing and technical assistance in China, and has over the past several years offered technical services to customers in the mold-making, automotive, 3C (computers, communications, consumer electronics), footwear, and medical equipment sectors.
