Taipei, June 13, 2011 (CENS)--Tongtai Machine & Tool Co., one of Taiwan's leading manufacturers of special-purpose machine tools, has joined the supply chain of tablet personal computers as it has recently began delivering machining centers to customers who focus on the production of base plates for tablet PCs.

Because of the shipments of specialized machining centers, Tongtai will see monthly sales reach NT$160 million between June and August this year.

SinoPac Securities Investment Trust Co. predicted Tongtai will be able to score after-tax earnings of NT$838 million on sales of NT$7.467 billion this year. With gross profit margin reaching 21.96%, Tongtai is expected to record net earnings per share of NT$4.07 this year.

Tongtai said it has secured orders through the end of the third quarter of this year. At present, the company has NT$3.5 billion orders in hand, including NT$460 million for PCB (printed circuit board) drilling machines and NT$3 billion for CNC (computerized numerically controlled) machine tools.

Tongtai currently concentrates on the development and production of PCB drilling machines, CNC lathes and machining centers. Of them, PCB drilling machines account for over 40% of the company's total sales. About 41% of its machine-tool output is delivered to automobile makers.

In the beginning of this year, the company received orders for 343 machining centers used for making base plates for tablet PCs. These orders will be filled between May and September this year.

Tongtai is the only Taiwanese firm capable of rolling out laser drilling machines. The company shipped three laser drilling machines in the first quarter of this year. It is expected the company will deliver 10 laser drilling machines by the end of June. SinoPac Securities Investment Trust forecasts Tongtai to ship a total of 60 laser drilling machines in 2011, contributing NT$900 million to its total sales.
