Taipei, Nov. 12, 2010 (CENS)--The 2010 Taiwan Machine Tool Show (TMTS 2010), held Nov. 3-7 at the Taichung ShuiNan Economic and Trade Park, is expected to create more than NT$3 billion in business opportunities from on-site and follow-up orders. TMTS 2010, the inaugural and largest machine tool show held in Taiwan this year, attracted 300 exhibitors using 1,300 booths.

The five-day show, organized by the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builder's Association (TMBA), attracted 50,000 visitors, including 1,000-odd foreign visitors. TMBA chairman Eric Y.T. Chuo said the show generated over NT$1 billion in on-site orders.

A survey of exhibitors shows that follow-up orders will exceed NT$2 billion, which will largely benefit Taiwan's machine-tool industry. The organizer noted that 98% of exhibitors are very willing to return for the next session slated for 2012.

Jimmy Chu, chairman of Fair Friend Group, said his group received NT$80 million in on-spot orders and a 20-person delegation from China promised to purchase NT$135 million of machine tools.

The largest machine-tool conglomerate in China—Fair Friend—was the largest exhibitor by booking 80 booths at the show.

Goodway Machine Corp. and its affiliate--Awea Mechantronic Co. snatched on-spot orders of US$10 million. Edward Yang, president of both Goodway and Awea, said a manufacturer of automobile parts from China placed orders for 100 CNC (computerized numerically controlled) lathes with Goodway and 50 machining centers with Awea, totaling US$70 million.
