HK International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair

2009/10/07 | By CENS

Besides being highly regarded as an excellent venue to develop business by global exhibitors over the years, the Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair also stands firmly as a trade fair with both excellent international representation and steady growth in visitor numbers. In 2008, the exhibitor number hit a record high of 291, up 20% over 2007, as well as attracting more than 8,800 buyers from 106 countries, an increase of 13% over 2007.

The 4th or 2009 edition of the fair, scheduled for Oct. 28 to 31, 2009 at the AsiaWorld-Expo, is again set to help global and local exhibitors find promising niches as certain segments of the global housing markets recover, infrastructural projects in China continue, and the emerging middle-class in China aspire to be home owners. On top of that, the organizers—the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Limited—are tapping extensive experience to make the trade event effective and user-friendly, minimizing the hassle typically related to sourcing.

More emphasis will be placed on furniture this year with the addition of the “Furniture Zone.”

Eco Expo Asia and HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will run concurrently, giving buyers more alternatives and chances to develop new contacts that may help to build business.

One of the most notable merits of the HK International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair is to enable global buyers tap the best from the “Factory of the World,” a name given to China for its enormous strength to offer quality products at competitive prices. So this year buyers from everywhere can look forward to finding virtually everything for home building, retrofitting and decorating.

Exhibitors from China in the past have commented that the HK fair has helped them to go global, having been encouraged by the number and quality of buyers, and have shown continued interest to display products at this event.

Conversely overseas exhibitors come to this HK trade event to explore new opportunities in the world's largest market—where more than half of the global supply of building materials and hardware are consumed.
